Vettu cake or tea kadai kajada is simple, instant tea time snack in tamilnadu & kerala road side stalls. This is authentic style but we can make it without egg or maida.We will upload healthy wheat flour, no egg vettu cake soon.
Ingredients
Outer layer
- All purpose flour / Maida / Wheat flour – 1 cup
- Egg - 1
- Milk - 4 tbsp or as required
- Powdered sugar - 1/4 cup
- Cardamom powder - 1/2 tsp
- Baking soda - 1/4 tsp
- Water as need
- Oil for deep frying
Preparation
- In a bow ladd egg, sugar, cardamom, beat well
- Add baking soda, flour, milk mix well, knead make semi-soft dough
- Then cover it, leave it 30 to 45 min
- Then knead it again
- Make cylindrical log shape
- Divide into equal size portions
- Then make cross shape using knife [Like deep cut]
- Heat oil in a pan, drop it in hot oil, deep fry till golden brown on medium to low flame
- Once its ready, serve hot with tea

Add 1 egg
Add powdered sugar
Add pinch of salt
Add baking soda beat well
We can use whisk or blender
Add cardamom powder
Add maida or Wheat flour
Mix well
Add milk, knead it make semi soft dough
Cover it, leave it for 30 min
Knead it again and make cylindrical log shape
Noe its ready
Slice or make balls
Make cross shape [Deep cut is important]
Now its ready
Heat oil, drop it
Deep fry on medium to low flame
Flip over fry both sides
Perfect golden brown vettu cake ready
Drain on absorbent paper
Serve hot with tea
