Fried Rice-Simple & healthy lunch box recipe

  • Basmati rice - 2 cups
  • Onion - 2 tbsp
  • Spring onion - 3 springs
  • Carrot - 1 [cut in to thin long strips]
  • Capsicum - 1 [cut in to long strips]
  • Pepper powder [freshly ground] - 1 tbsp
  • Tomato chilli sauce - 1 tbsp
  • Dark Soya sauce - 1 tbsp
  • Green chilli - 1 chopped
  • Garlic- 1 tbsp
  • Garam masala -1 tbsp [optional]
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil - 2 tbsp


  • Wash and soak basmati long grain for 30 min.
  • Heat 7 cups of water in a pan, add 1 tbsp oil or ghee let it boil.
  • Add basmathi rice & salt cook till 3/4 th. Then drain water, cover lid & leave it for 5 min.
  • Then spread it on the plate let it cool.
  • Heat pan with oil , add onion & garlic sauté till light brown then add green chilli sauté gently.
  • Add carrot stripes, green capsicum strips and sauté well for 3 min. Add dark soya sauce, tomato chilli saute sauté
  • Add cooked basmati rice and mix well.
  • Add salt, garam masala mix well.
  • Now fry on high flame for 2 minutes.
  • Add chopped spring onions, freshly ground peppercorns mix well then serve hot with gobi manchurian, corn manchurian, paneer manchurian, tofu manchurian, soya chunks manchurian, veg manchurian or egg manchurian.
