Chitranna recipe | Lemon rice chitranna recipe Begur, Bangalore Style

Ingredients
- Basmati rice – 2 cup [boiled]
- Lemon juice – 3 tbsp
- Roasted peanuts – ¼ cup
- Sambar onion [shallots] – 5
- Coconut – ¼ cup [grated]
- Green chilli – ½ [slit]
- Dry red chilli – 1
- Ginger – 1 tbsp [finely chopped]
- Curry leaves – 2 springs
- Turmeric powder- ½ tsp
- Mustard seeds – 1 tbsp
- Bengal gram – 1 tbsp
- Urad dal – 1 tbsp
- Gingelly oil – 1 tbsp
- Oil – 2 tbsp
- Asafetida
- Salt to taste
Method
- Heat pan with oil add mustard seeds. Once it’s spluttered add Bengal gram, urad dal, and roasted peanuts. Then add onion sauté till soft.
- Add coconut, ginger, dry red chilli, green chilli and curry leaves sauté. Then add asafetida & turmeric powder mix well.
- Add boiled basmati rice and salt mix well. Then add lemon juice mix well.
- Sprinkle 1 tbsp of gingelly oil mix well & cut off heat. Serve hot with coconut chutney or pickles, chips.
