Corn rava upma with vegetables-How to Make-Stepwise pictures | Cornmeal Kichadi | Maize[Makka cholam] rava upma

Ingredients
- Corn rava [maize rava, Makka cholam]- 2 cups
- Carrot-1[cut into cubes]
- Potato-1 [cut into cubes]
- Coconut- 1 ½ inch [thinly sliced][optional]
- Fresh green peas – ½ cup
- Tomato – 1 [chopped]
- Onion-1[sliced]
- Green chilli-1[slit or chopped]
- Curry leaves- 1 spring
- Ginger-2tbsp [finely chopped]
- Coriander leaves-2 tbsp [chopped]
- Mustard seeds-1 tbsp
- Bengal gram-1 tbsp
- Urad dal-1 tbsp
- Water- 3 cups
- Salt to taste
- Oil – 2 to 3 tbsp
Method
- Heat pan then add corn rava, roast with ½ tbsp oil.
- Heat pressure cooker then add oil. Add mustard seeds & let it splutter.
- Then add Bengal gram, urad dal sauté gently then add onion sauté well then add ginger, green chilli, curry leaves.
- Add carrot, potatoes and coconut sauté well.
- Add tomato & green peas saute.
- Add water and salt mix well & let it boil. When boiling add roasted corn rava mix well then cover it and cook for 4 to 5 whistle.
- Then add coriander leaves mix well and serve hot with coconut chutney, pickle or chips.
- You can add lemon juice at the end.

Heat pan, add corn rava, oil & roast
Roasted corn rava
Seasoning-heat pressure cooker, add oil, bengal gram, urad dal
Add onion & saute
Add ginger, green chilli & curry leaves
Add Carrot & Potato
Add tomato & saute
Add green peas, salt & saute
Add 3 cups of water, salt & let it boil
Boiling
Add roasted rava
Mix well & cover it, cook for 4 to 5 whistles
Add chopped coriander leaves & Transfer to a serving bowl, serve hot with pickle or chutney
Tip
- You can add roasted or fried nuts, beans, green peas etc.
