Rava Idli, Semolina idli, Rava Idly-How to make-Step by step photos & video

Ingredients
- Rava[Semolina] - 1 cup
- Curd - ½ cup
- Water as needed
- Carrot [ grated]- 1 tbsp
- Cashew nut - 4 [roasted with ghee and chopped]
- Green chilli - 1 [chopped]
- Curry leaves - 1 spring
- Ginger - 1 tbsp [grated]
- Coriander Leaves - ½ cup [chopped]
- Mustard seeds - 1 tbsp
- Bengal gram - 1 tbsp
- Urad dal - 1 tbsp
- Turmeric powder - a pinch
- Asafetida - a pinch
- Oil - 3 tbsp
- Salt to taste
Preparation
- Mix 1 cup of rava with ½ cup curd and ¼ cup water and salt mix well (general Idli batter consistency) and leave it for 2 hours. Particle of Rava size becomes 2 times bigger
- Heat oil in a pan then add mustard seeds once it’s crackled add Bengal gram, urad dal, asafetida green chilli, ginger, carrot, turmeric powder and curry leaves one by one then sauté gently.
- Cut off heat then add chopped coriander leaves.
- Put these seasoned ingredients onto rava batter mixture
- Heat idli cooker with water & let it boil.
- Then grease idly plates with oil and pour rava batter mixture in each cavity.
- Place it in boiling water, cover lid and steam it for 15 min.
- Then Serve hot with coconut chutney.
Note
- Don’t add too much water.

Add curd or yogurt & mix well
Curd mixed white rava batter, cover it & leave it for 2 hours
Add asafoetida[hing-hindi, perungayam-tamil]
Add seasoned ingredients-Mustard seeds, Bengal gram, Urad dal
Add Ginger & Green chilli
Add Curry leaves, Corinder leaves & Carrot
Add Cashew
Rava idli batter
Pour batter in idli plates-Steam in idli cooker for 10 min
White rava idli-semolina idli[After steaming]
Rava idli[ready to serve]-Serve hot with coconut chutney
