Green gram vada | Pachai payaru corn vadai-How to make-Step by step pictures

Ingredients
- Green gram [Pachai payaru] – ¾ cup
- Thatta payir [black eyed peas] – ½ cup
- Corn [Makka solam] – ½ cup
- Sambar Onion[Shallots] – 1 [finely chopped]
- Curry leaves – 2 springs [finely chopped]
- Coriander leaves – 2 springs [finely chopped]
- Coconut – 2 tbsp [chopped]
- Green chilli – 1 [finely chopped]
- Ginger – 1 tbsp [finely chopped, mashed]
- Asafetida [Hing] – ¼ tsp
- Fennel seeds -1 tbsp
- Dry red chilli - 1
- Salt to taste
- Oil – for deep frying
Preparation
- Wash & soak Green gram, corn, black eyed peas overnight. Then wash & drain water.
- Put soaked grains, dry red chilli, fennel seeds, salt & asafetida in a mixer jar& coarsely grind [don’t add water] then transfer this mixture to a bowl.
- Add onion, ginger, curry leaves, coriander leaves, coconut & green chilli mix well.
- Shape balls then flatten & deep fry till golden brown.
- Serve hot with tea or coffee.
How to make Green gram vada [Vadai] - Stepwise procedure & pictures
In a mixer jar add green gram, corn, cow peas, salt, dry red chilli, fennel seeds & asafetida then coarsely-grind
Freshly ground green gram vada mixture
Transfer mixture to a bowl add onion, ginger, green chilli, curry leaves & coriander leaves
Add chopped coconut mix well
Shape & flatten vada
Heat oil put shaped vada & deep fry
Deep fry in medium hot oil
Flip over & fry both sides
Vadas turned golden brown
Green gram vada is ready to serve.Transfer to a serving plate & serve hot
