Ingredients

  • Kappa (Maravalli Kizhangu : Tamil, Tapioca : English) - 1 Kg
  • Green chilli - 2 Nos
  • Turmeric Powder - 1/2 tsp
  • Garlic - 5 nos
  • Curry leaves
  • Mustard seeds - 1/4 tsp
  • Tamarind water (Not extract. 10 g tamarind dissolved in one cup of water)
  • Oil - 1 1/2 tbsp
  • Salt to taste

Preparation

  • Take one green chilli and grind it to paste.
  • Dissolve this paste and salt in tamarind water and add 1/4 tsp turmeric powder.
  • Peel off Tapioca (Kappa) and boil it in this mixture (If you want kappa to be soft use cooker).
  • After cooked spread in a plate and cut into pieces.
  • In a pan heat oil put mustard and let it to splutter.
  • Now put the Kappa pieces and fry for 5 minutes.
  • Garnish with curry leaves.
  • Serve with fish curry.

Note

  • You can boil Kappa in water without any mixture.

Tip

  • Add red chilli for extra hot.

  • We are boiling in a chilli, tamarind, turmeric and salt mixture. This mixture penetrates to the entire kappa and the whole Kappa becomes tasteful.
