Red chilli chutney By

Ingredients

  • Dry red chilli [Sigappu milagai, Vara Milagai] – 5
  • Onion – 1 [sliced]
  • Garlic – 3 cloves
  • Salt to taste
  • Water – 2 tbsp [Optional]
  • Tamarind – 1 inch
  • Gingelly oil – 2 tbsp

For seasoning [optional]

  • Mustard seeds - 1 tbsp
  • Bengal gram - ½ tbsp
  • Urad dal - ½ tbsp
  • Curry leaves - 1 spring
  • Oil - 1 tbsp

Method

  • In a mixer jar or stone mortar pestle add dry red chilli, onion, garlic, salt & tamarind then coarsely grind.
  • Then add water or gingelly oil then finely grind.
  • Transfer freshly ground mixture to a bowl then serve with idli, dosa
  • For seasoning:- Heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds, Bengal gram & curry leaves.
  • Add seasoned ingredients over the chutney & Serve with idli, dosa.
