Cornmeal upma | Broken Maize Upma | Simple corn rava upma

Ingredients
- Cornmeal [Broken maize, Corn rava ] – 1 cup
- Onion – 1 [sliced]
- Coconut – 3 tbsp [grated]
- Curd – 2 tbsp [fully whisked]
- Tomato – 1 [finely chopped]
- Ginger – 1 tbsp [finely chopped]
- Green chilli – 1 [slit]
- Curry leaves – 1 spring
- Coriander leaves – 3 springs [chopped]
- Mustard seeds – 1 tbsp
- Bengal gram – 1 tbsp
- Urad dal – 1 tbsp
- Salt to taste
- Oil – 2 tbsp
- Water – 2 ½ cups
Preparation
- Heat pan then add cornmeal & sprinkle ½ tbsp of oil then roast.
- Heat oil in a pressure cooker then add mustard seeds & let it splutter. Then add Bengal gram and urad dal.
- Add onion sauté till soft then add ginger sauté. Then add green chilli, curry leaves & tomato saute till soft.
- Add water & salt mix well. Then add coconut & curd mix well & let it boil. Then add roasted rava mix well & cover it, cook for 4 whistles.
- Then cut off heat, sprinkle coriander leaves & serve hot with chutney or pickles.
