Nylon Sago Upma | Sabudana khichadi

Ingredients
- Nylon Sabudhana [Sago] - 1 cup [Soak sago for 2 hours then drain extra water]
- Carrot [grated] - 1 tbsp
- Tomato - 1 [chopped]
- Onion – 1 [chopped]
- Green chilli - 1[chopped]
- Ginger - ½ tbsp [finely chopped]
- Curry leaves – 1 spring
- Coriander leaves– 2 springs [finely chopped]
- Coconut - 1 tbsp [Grated]
- Turmeric powder - ¼ tbsp
- Mustard seeds - 1 tbsp
- Urad dal - ½ tbsp
- Bengal gram - ½ tbsp
- Asafetida - a pinch
- Lemon juice - ½ tbsp
- Salt - to taste
- Oil - 2 tbsp
- Water as needed
Preparation
- Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds. Once it’s spluttered add Bengal gram, urad dal sauté gently then add onion sauté till light brown then add asafetida.
- Add ginger, green chilli & curry leaves sauté gently then add turmeric powder and tomato sauté for 2 min.
- Add grated coconut & carrot sauté for 1 min then add sabhudana, sprinkle salt sauté gently till sabhudana changes to transparent.
- Once it’s cooked cut off heat then sprinkle lemon juice & coriander leaves serve hot.
Note
- This can be prepared without vegetable
Tip
- Use 1 tbsp of ghee with oil for added aroma
