Rava pongal | Semolina kara pongal recipe-How to make-Step by step photos & Video

Ingredients
- White rava [semolina rava] – 1 cup
- Moong dal- ¼ cup
- Cashew nuts - 8
- Cumin seeds – 1 tbsp
- Peppercorn – 1 tbsp
- Ginger – 1 inch [chopped, mashed]
- Green chilli – 1 [finely chopped]
- Curry leaves – 1 spring
- Ghee – 3 tbsp
- Salt to taste
- Water – 2 cups
Method
- Dry roast rava and yellow moong dal.
- Heat pan, add 2 ¼ cups of water and 1 tbsp ghee.
- Then add moong dal cook till 3/4 th then add 2 1/2 cups of water let it boil
- Then add dry roasted rava,cover lid and cook till soft[2 min on medium flame].
- For pressure cooker method:- Pressure cook moong dal and rava with 2 ½ cups of water and 1 tbsp ghee for 2 whistles.
- For seasoning:- Heat ghee in a pan, add cumin seeds, pepper corns, green chilli, ginger, cashew nuts and curry leaves sauté gently then cut off heat.
- Add seasoned ingredients to the cooked rava mixture then add salt mix well.
- Finally add ghee mix well. Serve hot with coconut chutney or sambar.

Dry roast, wash and parboil moong dal
Add enough water and ghee, let it boil
When boiling, slowly add dry roasted rava mix well with out lumps
Add salt mix well, cover lid, leave it for a min & then cut off heat
Heat ghee in a pan, add seasoning ingredients & saute gently then cut off heat
Add seasoned ingredients and ghee, mix well
Finally add crushed peppercorns mix well
Easy rava moong dal pongal is ready, serve hot with coconut chutney
