Lotus seeds tomato curry | Thamarai vidhai thakkali kuzhambu | Phool makhana tamatar curry

Ingredients
- Lotus seeds [Thamarai vidhai, Phool makhana] – 1 cup
- Tomato – 2 [chopped]
- Cumin seeds – 1 tbsp
- Onion – 1 [chopped]
- Ginger – 1 tbsp [finely chopped]
- Garlic – 2 [finely chopped]
- Green chilli – 1 tbsp [chopped]
- Curry leaves – 1 spring
- Coriander leaves – 1 spring
- Red chilli powder – ½ tsp
- Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
- Garam masala powder – ½ tsp
- Salt to taste
- Oil – 2 tbsp
- Water as needed
Method
- Heat oil in a pan add cumin seeds & let it splutter then add onion sauté till soft.
- Add ginger & garlic sauté. Then add curry leaves sauté.
- Add tomato sauté till soft.
- Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, salt & water let it boil.
- Add lotus seeds & garam masala mix well, cover lid & let it boil.
- Finally add coriander leaves & cut off heat then serve hot with rice, ragi dosa, idli, roti, chapathi or paratha.
