Ingredients
- Thinai rice (Foxtail Millet) – 1 cup
- Jaggery – 3/4 to 1 cup
- Moong dal – ¼ cup
- Camphor (Pachai Karpooram) – less than peppercorn size
- Cardamom powder – ½ tbsp
- Cashew nuts – 5 to 6 [Ghee Fried]
- Ghee – 3 tbsp
- Salt – a pinch
- Water – 2 cups
Preparation
- Wash thinai rice and moong dal.
- Add 2 cups of water, ghee and salt then pressure cook it (aprx 4 whistles).
- Heat jaggery with 1/2 cup water, let it melt for 3 min then drain to avoid impurities.
- Add jaggery syrup to the thinai mixture, let it boil for 5 min.
- Add Cardamom powder, ghee and camphor.
- Garnish with cashew nut and serve hot.
