Ingredients
- Rice flour - 1.5 cups
- Maida - 3 tbsp
- Rava - 1 tbsp
- Peanuts - 1/4 cup [Half roasted]
- Chutney gram - 2 tbsp
- Roasted coconut - 1 tbsp
- Curry leaves - 2 springs
- Cumin seeds - 1 tbsp
- Bengal gram [Kadalai paruppu]– 1 tbsp
- Red chilli powder– 1 tsp
- Asafetida [Perungayam] - ¼ tsp
- White sesame seeds [Ellu]– 1 tbsp
- Hot oil -4 tbsp
- Salt to taste
- Oil for deep frying
- Water as needed
Preparation Method
- Wash & soak chana dal for 1 hour
- Dry roast urad dal till you get nice aroma then let it cool & grind to smooth powder.
- In a mixie jar, add peanuts, chutney gram, dry coconut, cumin, curry leaves, coarsely grind
- In a bowl add rice flour, urad dal flour, rava, maida, peanut mixture, asafetida, red chilli powder, sesame seeds, mix well.
- Add 4 tbsp hot oil, mix well
- Add Water, make soft dough [Dough should be soft & non sticky]
- Divide the dough into equal size balls.
- Place the ball on greased sheet, close it, then flatten into thin circles
- Prick holes using tooth pick
- Heat oil in a pan, drop it, deep fry till crisp on medium hot oil.
- Once its ready take it out & drain absorbent paper & let it cool then store in an airtight container

Add half roasted peanuts

Add dry coconut, curry leaves, cumin seeds
Coarsely grind
Add 1.5 cup rice flour
Add 3 tbsp maida
Add 1 tbsp Rava
Add 1 tbsp Sesame seeds
Add 1/2 tsp Asafoetida
Add 1 tsp Red chilli powder
Add ground peanut mixture & salt
Mix well
Add 4 tbsp Hot oil, mix well
Mix well
slowly add water, make soft dough
Gradually add water
Dough ready
Cover with wet cotton cloth [ to avoid drying]
Divide the dough into equal size balls
Place ball in greased sheet
Flatten into thin circles
Perfect raw thattai ready
Prick holes to avoid drying
Non-sticky
Drop it in hot oil
Deep fry till crispy on medium flame
Now its ready, remove it from oil
No oil, perfect thattai ready

Cut into cookie cutter for perfect shape
