Ingredients

  • Rice flour – 1 cup
  • Coconut – 2 tbsp [grated]
  • Curry leaves – 1 spring
  • Green chilli – 1 [chopped]
  • Mustard seeds -1 tbsp
  • Bengal gram - ½ tbsp
  • Urad dal - ½ tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil – 1 tbsp
  • Gingelly oil – 1 tbsp
  • Water – ¾ to 1 cup

Method

  • In a bowl, add rice flour & water then make idli batter consistency without lumps.
  • Heat pan, pour batter and stir continuously till mixture becomes chapatti soft dough consistency.
  • Then pour 1 tbsp of ginelly oil over the dough.
  • Divide the dough into equal size balls.
  • Heat idli cooker with water & let it boil. Then grease idly plates with oil, Place prepared balls & place it in boiling water, cover lid and steam it for 5 to 8 min.
  • Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds & let it splutter. Then add Bengal gram & urad dal sauté till light brown.
  • Add green chilli & curry leaves sauté gently. Then add grated coconut sauté gently.
  • Add steamed balls & sauté gently then cut off heat. Serve hot.
