Raw banana dry curry By

Ingredients

  • Raw banana [Vazhakkai, Plantain, Kacha kela] - 1
  • Mustard seeds – 1 tbsp
  • Coriander seeds – 1 tbsp
  • Fenugreek – ½ tbsp
  • Bengal gram – 1 tbsp
  • Urad dal – ½ tbsp
  • Curry leaves – 1 spring
  • Green chilli – 1 [chopped]
  • Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil – 2 tbsp
  • Water as needed

Method

  • Dry roast fenugreek & coriander seeds separately, let it cool & grind to fine powder.
  • In a pressure cooker add raw banana, turmeric powder, 1 tsp oil, salt & water, cover lid cook for 2 whistles.
  • Peel off the skin, let it cool & cut into cubes.
  • Heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds & let it splutter. Then add Bengal gram, urad dal & curry leaves sauté.
  • Add green chilli, fenugreek powder & turmeric powder sauté.
  • Add chopped raw banana, salt & coriander powder sauté till crisp.
  • Then cut off heat serve hot with rice
