Samai khichdi | Little millet khichdi upma | Samak rice khichdi

Ingredients
- Samai arisi [Little millet, sama rice, samak rice]- 2 cups
- Carrot – 2 [cut into cubes]
- Tomato – 1 [chopped]
- Onion-1[sliced]
- Green chilli - 1[chopped]
- Ginger - 1tbsp [finely chopped]
- Curry leaves- 1 spring
- Coriander leaves-2 tbsp [chopped]
- Mustard seeds-1 tbsp
- Bengal gram-1 tbsp
- Urad dal-1 tbsp
- Lemon juice – 1 tbsp
- Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
- Red chilli powder – ½ tsp
- Salt to taste
- Oil – 2 tbsp
- Water-3 ½ to 4 cups
Preparation Method
- Wash & soak samai arisi for 15 min.
- Heat oil in a pressure cooker, add mustard seeds & let its splutter.
- Then add Bengal gram, urad dal sauté gently.
- Add onion sauté well then add ginger, green chilli, carrot, & curry leaves sauté.
- Add tomato, red chilli powder & turmeric powder sauté till soft.
- Then add water, salt mix well & let it boil.
- Then add samai arisi mix well then cover it and cook for 3 to 4 whistle.
- Then add coriander leaves & lemon juice mix well and serve hot with coconut chutney, pickle.
