Ingredients

  • Samai arisi [Little millet, sama rice, samak rice]- 2 cups
  • Carrot – 2 [cut into cubes]
  • Tomato – 1 [chopped]
  • Onion-1[sliced]
  • Green chilli - 1[chopped]
  • Ginger - 1tbsp [finely chopped]
  • Curry leaves- 1 spring
  • Coriander leaves-2 tbsp [chopped]
  • Mustard seeds-1 tbsp
  • Bengal gram-1 tbsp
  • Urad dal-1 tbsp
  • Lemon juice – 1 tbsp
  • Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
  • Red chilli powder – ½ tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil – 2 tbsp
  • Water-3 ½ to 4 cups

Preparation Method

  • Wash & soak samai arisi for 15 min.
  • Heat oil in a pressure cooker, add mustard seeds & let its splutter.
  • Then add Bengal gram, urad dal sauté gently.
  • Add onion sauté well then add ginger, green chilli, carrot, & curry leaves sauté.
  • Add tomato, red chilli powder & turmeric powder sauté till soft.
  • Then add water, salt mix well & let it boil.
  • Then add samai arisi mix well then cover it and cook for 3 to 4 whistle.
  • Then add coriander leaves & lemon juice mix well and serve hot with coconut chutney, pickle.
