Pani varagu paruppu sadam | Proso millet lentil rice-How to make with pictures

Ingredients
- Panivaragu [Proso millet]– 1 ½ cup
- Toor dal [Thuvaramparuppu] – ½ cup
- Sambar onion[Shallots] - 7
- Cumin seeds – ½ tbsp
- Garlic – 2 cloves
- Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
- Water – 4 ¼ cups
- Oil - 1 tbsp
For Seasoning
- Mustard seeds – 1 tbsp
- Cumin seeds – ½ tbsp
- Dry red chilli - 3
- Curry leaves – 1 spring
- Bengal gram – ½ tbsp
- Urad dal – ½ tbsp
- Salt to taste
- Gingelly Oil – 1 tbsp
Method
- Wash toor dal, & Pani varagu.
- Add Pani varagu, toor dal, cumin seeds, garlic, sambar onion, turmeric powder & 4 cups of water in a pressure cooker then cover lid & cook for 4 whistles.
- For seasoning:- Heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, Bengal, gram, urad dal, dry red chilli and curry leaves.
- Add seasoned ingredients to the cooked panivaragu mixture and add salt mix well.
- Finally pour 1 tbsp of gingelly oil mix well.
- Serve hot with pickle.
How to make Pani varagu paruppu sadam- With pictures
Pani varagu / Proso millet
Pressure cook panivaragu, toor dal, shallots, cumin seeds, turmeric with water for 4 whistles
Add salt and gingelly oil to the panivaragu mixture
Heat oil in a pan seasoning with mustard seeds, cumin seeds, curry leaves, dry red chilli, begal gram & urad dal
Add seasoned ingredients to the pani varagu dal mixture mix well
Proso millet lentil rice is ready serve hot with pickle
