Ingredients
- Vazhaipoo [banana flower] – 2
- Coconut – ¼ cup [grated]
- Onion – 1 [sliced]
- Dry red chilli - 1
- Curry leaves – 1 spring
- Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
- Red chilli powder – ¼ tsp
- Mustard seeds – 1 tbsp
- Bengal gram – 1 tbsp
- Urad dal – 1 tbsp
- Jaggery – ½ tbsp
- Oil – 2 tbsp
- Salt to taste
- Water as needed
For grinding [Ingredients]
- Toor dal – 1 tbsp
- Benglal gram – 2 tbsp
- Coconut – 3 tbsp [grated]
- Red chilli – 1
- Salt to taste
- Wash and soak toor dal and Bengal gram for 2 hours. Then coarsely grind with dry red chilli, coconut and salt. Steam in idli cooker for 5 min
Method
- Peel off the petals. And pluck the white flowers. Then hold flower bunch & rub the tip with other hand now you can see the stamens and stigma. Just cut the stigma. Now chop and put it in turmeric powder mixed water.
- Repeat the procedure for all flowers. Then drain excess water and boil for 7 min
- Heat pan with oil add mustard, Bengal gram and urad dal.
- Add onion sauté till soft. Then add dry red chilli and curry leaves.
- Add 2 tbsp coconut, dry red chilli sauté well. Add ground mixture sauté gently
- Add banana flower and salt sauté well. Then add jaggery and remaining coconut mix well. cut off heat and serve hot with rice.

Heat pan, add oil, mustard, bengal gram and urad dal
add onion & dry red chilli
Add curry leaves
Add coconut & red chilli powder
Add steamed dals mixture
Add boiled banana flower & salt mix well
Add grated coconut & Jaggery
