Raw Jackfruit Curry By

Ingredients

  • Raw Jackfruit [Palaakkai Pinju, Baby Jackfruit] - ½
  • Shallots – 5
  • Garlic – 1 clove
  • Dry red chilli – 1
  • Curry leaves – 1 spring
  • Coriander leaves – 2 spring [chopped]
  • Lemon juice – 1 tbsp
  • Red chilli powder – ¼ tbsp
  • Mustard seeds – 1 tbsp
  • Bengal gram – ½ tbsp
  • Urad dal – ½ tbsp
  • Oil – 2 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as needed

Roasting and grinding ingredients

  • Shallots [sambar onion] – 10
  • Garlic – 4
  • Ginger – 1 inch
  • Coconut – 2 tbsp [grated]
  • Curry leaves – 1 spring
  • Dry red chilli – 1
  • Cinnamon – ½ inch stick
  • Fennel seeds – 1 tbsp
  • Cumin seeds – 1 tbsp
  • Coriander seeds – 1 tbsp
  • Heat oil in a pan then add ingredients roast then cool it and coarsely grind.

Method

  • Peel the skin of jack fruit and wash, cut into cubes then put in a turmeric added water.
  • Heat oil in a pan then add mustard seeds. Once it’s spluttered then add Bengal gram, urad dal and onion sauté till soft.
  • Then add garlic and dry red chilli sauté gently.
  • Add curry leaves add jack fruit and red chilli powder mix well then add water cook till soft.
  • Then add ground paste and salt mix well & cook till raw smell out.
  • Cut off heat then add lemon juice and coriander leaves mix well & serve hot with rice.
