Ingredients

  • Rice*[Basmati or jeera rice]- 2 cups
  • Ghee - 4 tbs
  • Green cardamoms - 3
  • Cloves - 5
  • Cinnamon 1/2 inch stick - 1
  • Turmeric powder (optional) - ½ tsp

*Water proportion

  • Basmati rice - 1: 1&¼
  • Biriyani / Jeera - rice 1: 1 &½
  • Boiled rice - 1: 2
  • Sona Masoori Rice 1 : 2 ¼ to 2 ½
  • Tulasi rice 1 : 1 ¼
  • Thinai, Varagu, Kuthirai vaali, Samai - 1 : 1 ½

Preparation

  • Take ghee in a pan and heat it.
  • Once it heats up put Green cardamoms, Cloves,Cinnamon and fry for 2 minutes.
  • Add turmeric powder.
  • Pour water and let it boil and add salt and pinch of sugar.
  • Take the rice in a cooker container and pour the entire mixture into the container and pressure cook it ( 3 whistles).
  • Serve with tomato gravy.

Note

  • This recipe doesn’t require any additional ingredients like curry leaves, tomatoes etc. Make it simple

Tip

  • You can use saffron for color
