Jackfruit appam | Kerala special Chakka appam-How to make-Step by step photos with Video

Ingredients
- Raw rice-1 cup
- Jaggery - 3/4 cup
- Coconut - 3/4 cup [grated]
- Cardamom powder - 1 tsp
- Ghee- 4 tbsp
- Jackfruit - 5 to 6
- Sesame seeds- 2 tbsp
- Coconut piece- 2 tbsp
- Salt a pinch
Preparation
- Wash & soak raw rice for 5 hours or overnight.
- Dry roast sesame seeds, keep it aside.
- Heat 1 tbsp in a pan, add coconut pieces roast.
- Remove seeds from jackfruit, chop then grind to fine paste.
- Heat pan add jagery and 1/2 cup water let it boil for 3 min then strain to remove impurities
- In a mixie jar add rice, coconut, cardamom pods, coarsely grind.
- Add jaggery syrup grind to smooth batter.
- Add ground jackfruit, salt, sesame seeds & coconut pieces mix well.
- Heat iron appam maker[paniyaram tawa], pour ghee around the appam cavities.
- Pour jackfruit batter, cover lid cook both sides till crisp & Golden brown.
- Then serve hot.

Jackfruit appam ingredients
Heat pan add jaggery
Add water [1/2 cup]
Let it boil for 5 min then cut off heat
Strain to remove impurities
Chop jackfruit
Put chopped jackfruit in a mixer jar finely grind
Jackfruit mixture ready
Add grated coconut
Add soaked raw rice
Add jaggery syrup, finely grind
Appam batter ready
Heat 1 tbsp ghee, add coconut pieces, roast till light brown
Dry roast sesame seeds
Add cardamom powder
Add sesame seeds, coconut pieces
Heat appam pan, add ghee
Pour batter
Cook till crisp and golden brown, flip over cook both sides
Now its ready, remove it from pan
Delicious jackfruit appam ready, serve hot
