How to make Thinai sweet pongal video
Ingredients
- Thinai rice (Foxtail Millet) – 1 cup
- Moong dal – ¼ cup
- Dates - 1/2 cup
- Jaggery - 1/4 cup
- Cardamom powder – ½ tbsp
- Cashew nuts, raisins & dates - 2 tbsp
- Ghee – 3 tbsp
- Water – 7 cups
Preparation
- Soak dates in hot water for 10 min then grind to smooth puree
- Dry roast, Wash thinai rice and moong dal.
- Boil water in a pan, add moong dal & thinai, add 2 tbsp ghee, cook till soft
- Add dates puree, jaggery mix well, let it cook for 5 to 8 min
- Heat 2 tbsp ghee in a pan add cashews, raisins & chopped dates roast
- Add Cardamom powder & roasted nuts mix well then cut off heat

Add 1/2 cup dates
add hot water
Soak it for 10 min
put it in a mixer jar
Grind to fine puree
Roast moong dal
Add thinai roast
NOw its ready, cut off heat
Add water, wash 2 to 3 times
Boil water
Add thinai moong dal mixture
Boil till soft
3/4 th cooked
Add dates puree
Add jaggery
Mix well,
cook for 8 min
Ghee roast cashews & raisins
Add dates
Add cardamom powder
add roasted nuts & raisins
Mix well
Now its ready
Cut off heat
