Main ingredients

  • Garlic –10
  • sambar Onion[shallots, chinna vengayam] – 6
  • Fenugreek seeds - 1 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds – 1 tbsp
  • Bengal gram– ½ tbsp
  • Urad dal– ½ tbsp
  • Curry leaves – 1 spring
  • Red chilli powder – ½ tbsp
  • Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
  • Asafoetida - 1/4 tsp
  • Jaggery - 1 tbsp
  • Tamarind water - 4 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Sesame Oil – 3 tbsp
  • Water As needed

ingredients for roasting and grinding

  • Dry Red chilli-1
  • Rice -1 tbsp
  • Coconut – 2 tbsp [grated]
  • Coriander seeds – 1 tbsp
  • Cumin seeds – 1 tbsp
  • Bengal gram– 1 tbsp
  • Urad dal– 1 tbsp
  • Peppercorns - 1/2 tbsp
  • * Heat pan with oil roast all ingredients then grind to fine paste

Method

  • Dry roast fenugreek seeds & grind
  • Heat 1 tbsp sesame oil in a pan, add garlic saute till soft
  • Heat 2 tbsp sesame oil in a pan , add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, Bengal gram and urad dal.
  • Add curry leaves, asafoetida, onion & sauté well
  • Add garlic & fenugreek powder saute.
  • Add red chilli powder, turmeric powder mix well.
  • Add ground paste & water mix well let it boil.
  • Add tamrind water & salt let it boil
  • Add jaggery mix well let it boil for 2 min.
  • Then cut off heat, serve hot with rice, idly, dosa.
