Simple tomato rasam | Thakkali rasam -How to make-Step by step photos

Ingredients
- Tomato – 1 or 2
- Tamarind – 2 inches
- Garlic – 3 cloves [crushed]
- Curry leaves – 1 spring
- Coriander leaves – 2 tbsp [chopped]
- Mustard seeds – 1 tbsp
- Turmeric powder – ¼ tbsp
- Asafetida a pinch
- Salt to taste
- Oil - 1 tbsp
- Water as needed
Roasting & grinding ingredients
- Cumin seeds - 1 tbsp
- Coriander leaves -1 ½ tbsp
- Peppercorns - 1 tbsp
- Dry roast above ingredients, let it cool & coarsely grind
Preparation Method
- Wash and soak tomato & tamarind in water for 5 min.
- Then mash well with hands & drain the skin & extract water.
- Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds & let it splutter.
- Add garlic, curry leaves sauté.
- Add tomato with tamarind mixed water then add asafetida, turmeric powder, salt, & ground powder mix well & let it boil.
- When boiling add chopped coriander leaves, cut off heat. Serve hot with rice.

Dry roast cumin, corainder seeds, peppercorns
Grind roasted ingredients
Rasam powder is ready
Heat oil add mustard, curry leaves & garlic
Add tomato tamarind water
Add asafetida
Add turmeric powder
Add salt
Add ground powder
Add chopped coriander leaves, cut off heat
Quick thakkali rasam is ready, serve hot with rice
