Sweet potato halwa | Shakarkandi halwa-How to make-Step by step photos


Sweet potato halwa By


Cuisine Style: Punjab, north india | Cooking Time: 35 to 45 minutes | To Serve: 4 | Type: Sweet, dessert, diwali special sweet, halwa, pudding

Ingredients

  • Sweet potato-1
  • Ghee [melted butter] – 1/4 cup
  • Milk-2 cups
  • Sugar-3/4 cup
  • Cardamom powder – ½ tbsp
  • Almond-5
  • Cashew Nut-4
  • Saffron - few

Preparation

  • Steam sweet potato, peel off the skin, cut into small cubes.
  • In a wide pan take 1 tbsp of ghee and roast (light brown) almonds, cashew nuts & chop, keep it aside.
  • In the same pan add ghee & sweet potato sauté for 2 minutes
  • Add milk, stir well for 5 min
  • Add sugar stir well till the mixture start leaving the pan & thickens.
  • Then add cardamom powder, chopped nuts & saffron.
  • Add ghee & stir continuously. When mixture becomes thick then cut off heat.
  • Garnish with dry fruits serve cold / warm / hot

Tip

  • For Instant sweet potato halwa use condensed milk.
