Ingredients
- Pudalangai [Snake gourd] –1 cup
- Onion – 1 [sliced]
- Green chilli -1 [slit]
- Coconut – ¼ cup [grated]
- Curry leaves – 1 spring
- Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
- Red chilli powder – ½ tsp
- Coriander powder – ½ tbsp
- Mustard seeds – 1 tbsp
- Cumin seeds - 1 tbsp
- Bengal gram – 1 tbsp
- Urad dal – 1 tbsp
- Salt to taste
- Water as needed
- Oil – 2 tbsp
Preparation
- Wash and chop pudalangai
- Heat pan with oil then add mustard seeds & let it splutter. Then add Bengal gram, urad dal & cumin seeds.
- Add onion sauté till soft. Then add green chilli, 2 tbsp coconut and curry leaves.
- Add chopped pudalangai, turmeric, coriander & red chilli powder mix well, sauté for a min then add water boil till soft.
- Add salt & coconut mix well. Leave it for 1 min. then cut off heat.
- Serve hot with rice

Pudalangai[snake gourd]
Chopped pudalangai
Seasoning-Heat pan, add oil, mustard, bengal gram & urad dal
Add cumin & onion saute
Add green chilli & curry leaves
Add coconut
Add pudalangai
Add salt, turmeric, coriander & red chilli powder, mix well
Add water, cover it & cook
Add 1/4 cup of grated coconut
Mix well & saute
Pudalangai poriyal ready to serve
