Ingredients

  • Urad dal – 1 cup
  • Curd – 2 cups
  • Sambar onion [shallots] - 3
  • Green chilli – 1[finely chopped]
  • Ginger – 1 tbsp [finely chopped]
  • Curry leaves – 1 spring [finely chopped]
  • Rava – 1 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Sugar - 1 tbsp
  • Oil for deep frying[apr.¼ ltr]
  • Water as needed

For garnishing

  • Coriander leaves – 1 tbsp [finely chopped]
  • Red chilli powder – ½ tbsp
  • Kara sev[omapodi] – 2 tbsp

Preparation

  • Wash and soak urad dal for 5 hours. Then drain water & grind well or coarsely grind.
  • Heat pan & boil ½ ltr of water.
  • Take a bowl with curd, add salt & sugar mix well & keep it aside.
  • Take another bowl add ground urad dal mixture, curry leaves, coriander leaves, ginger, green chilli, salt & rava mix well.
  • Shape mini balls & deep fry. Then put it in hot water & immediately squeeze & place it in curd mixture. Repeat this procedure for all fried vada.
  • Sprinkle coriander leaves, red chilli powder & omapodi leave it for ½ an hour & serve.
