Thinai rice murukku | Foxtail millet star chakli -How to make-Step by step photos & Video

Ingredients
- Thinai rice [Foxtail millet ] –1 cup
- Rice flour [Arisi maavu, chawal ka atta ]– ¼ cup
- Gram flour – ¼ cup
- Red chilli powder – 1 tbsp
- Cumin seeds [jeera] – 1 tbsp
- Asafetida a pinch
- Butter – 1 tbsp
- Oil for deep frying
- Salt to taste
- Hot or Warm Water as needed
Preparation Method
- Wash & soak thinai for 1 hour. Then drain water, spread over the cotton cloth let it dry for 1 hour.
- Then grind to fine powder.
- In a bowl add ground foxtail millet powder, rice flour, gram flour, asafetida, cumin seeds, salt & butter mix well
- Then add water mix well, knead it & make soft dough [It should be soft & non sticky].
- Pour 1 tbsp of oil cover it & keep it aside.
- Fill the prepared dough in a muruku kuzhal [one handful] & just press out or squeeze over the ladle & deep fry till crisp on medium hot oil.
- Flip over & fry another side.
- Once it ready or the oil sound disappears then take it out & drain on absorbent paper.
- Leave it for room temperature [Apr. 2 min]. Then store in an airtight container

Thinai rice [ foxtail millet ] - 1 cup

1 hour later, thinai rice ready to grind
Put it in a mixer jar, fienly grind
Ground thinai powder ready
In a bowl add thinai powder
Gram flour
Rice flour
Red chilli powder
Cumin seeds
Butter, Asafoetida[hing]
Add salt mix well
Add water, mix well, knead it make soft dough
Add 1 tbsp oil, knead it, keep it aside
Grease murukku kuzhal with 1 tbsp oil
Place 1 handful dough
Squeeze over the ladle
Raw thinai murukku ready
Heat oil, drop it
Deep fry till crisp & golden brown
Now its ready, remove it from oil
Healthy, crispy thinai murukku ready, store in an airtight container then serve with tea
