Moong dal biryani | Pasi paruppu pulav-How to make-Step by step photos

Ingredients
- Jeera rice [Jeeraga samba rice]– 1
- Moong dal– 1/4 [cup]
- Tomato -2 [chopped]
- Onion – 1 [sliced]
- Fennel seeds – 1 tbsp
- Green cardamom - 3
- Cinnamon stick- 1
- Cloves - 4
- Bay leaves - 1
- Star anise - 1
- Mace -1
- Red chilli powder – 1 tsp
- Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
- Garam masala powder – 1 tbsp
- Mint leaves - 2 springs
- Green chilli -1
- Ginger - 1 inch piece
- Garlic - 5 cloves
- Salt to taste
- Ghee – 2 tbsp
- Oil – 2 tbsp
- Water –3 cups
Preparation Method
- Wash moong dal & jeera rice.
- Heat oil & ghee in a pan, aAdd green cardamom, fennel seeds, cinnamon stick, mace, cloves, bay leaves, star anise, stone flower sauté.
- Then add onion, gigner, garlic & green chilli sauté till light brown
- Add tomato sauté, garam masala, red chilli & turmeric powder saute till soft.
- Add moong dal, jeera rice & salt mix well
- Then add water, mix well, cover it & cook for 3 whistles in pressure cooker or cook for 10 mn in open pan.
- Sprinkle mint leaves & serve hot with salna kurma and raitha.
How to make Moong dal biryani - Stepwise pictures
Moong dal & jeera rice
Wash 2 to 3 times
Heat oil & ghee, add fennel, cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, star anise
Add onion
Saute till light brown
Add ginger, garlic & green chilli
Add tomato saute till soft
Add moong dal & jeera rice
Mix well,add salt
Add water, cover lid cook for 3 whistles
After 3 whistles, add mint leaves
Mix well
Healthy moong dal jeera rice biryani ready
Serve hot with raita
