Stuffed idli with potato masala-How to make-Stepwise Pictures

Ingredients for idli batter
- Rice – 4 cups
- Urad dal – 1 cup
- Fenugreek – 1 tbsp
- Salt to taste
- Water as needed
Ingredients for potato masala
- Potato [urulai kizhangu, aloo ] - 3 [boiled & mashed]
- Ginger & garlic – 1 tbsp [chopped, mashed, each]
- Chilli garlic chutney/powder – 2 tbsp [dry red chilli, garlic, curry leaves, hing, coconut]
- Green chilli – 2 [finely chopped]
- Curry leaves – 1 spring [chopped]
- Coriander leaves – 1 spring [chopped]
- Red chilli powder – 1 tsp
- Coriander powder – ¼ tsp
- Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
- Salt to taste
- Oil - 2 tbsp
Preparation
- Wash and Soak rice, urad dal with fenugreek separately for 6 hours.
- Drain water then grind well. Add salt and leave the batter for fermentation [approximately. 8 hours].
- Grease idly plates with gingelly oil. Pour idly batter[only 1/4]
- Add potato masala, pour idli batter. Then steam it for 10 min.
- Serve hot with coconut chutney and Sambar.
