How to make Spicy Gavvalu-Shell shaped savoury video


Ingredients

  • All purpose flour / Maida / Wheat flour – 1 cup
  • Ghee [clarified butter] - 2 to 3 tbsp
  • Red chili powder - 1 tbsp
  • Roasted cumin powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Garam masala powder - 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Salt - a pinch
  • Water as need
  • Oil for deep frying

For grinding

  • Curry leaves- 1 spring
  • Garlic - 4 cloves
  • Salt - 1/4 tsp
  • Put above ingredients in mixie ja, coarsely grind without water

Preparation

  • In a bowl add Maida, ground curry leaves mixture, salt, ghee, red chilli powder, turmeric, garam masala, cumin powder, 1 tbsp oil, mix well
  • Then add water slowly to make the soft dough.
  • Cover the bowl with cotton cloth then leave it for 15 min.
  • Divide the dough into small balls , using fork or gavvalu maker, shape gavval [shell shape]
  • Heat oil & ghee in a pan then deep fry till crisp & golden brown on low to medium hot oil
  • When it is ready take it out & drain on an absorbent paper.
  • Then cool it in room temperature.
  • Store it in an airtight container & use within 1 month
