How to make Gavvalu-Shell shaped sweet video
Ingredients
- All purpose flour / Maida / Wheat flour – 1 cup
- Ghee [clarified butter] - 2 to 3 tbsp
- Milk – 1/4 cup [Boiled, cooled] [Optional]
- Salt - a pinch
- Water as need
- Oil for deep frying
Sugar Syrup
- Sugar - 1 cup
- Water - ½ cup
- Ghee - 1 tbsp
- Rose essence - 1 tsp or green cardamom - 3 or green cardamom powder - 1 tsp
Preparation
- In a bowl add Maida, ghee, milk and salt mix well.
- Then add water slowly to make the soft dough.
- Cover the bowl with cotton cloth then leave it for 15 min.
- Divide the dough into small balls , using fork or gavvalu maker, shape gavval [shell shape]
- Heat oil & ghee in a pan then deep fry till crisp & golden brown on low to medium hot oil
- When it is ready take it out & drain on an absorbent paper.
- For sugar syrup:- Add water & sugar in a pan mix gently & let it dissolves.
- Then add cardamom & let it boil & leave it for 7 min for string consistency then cut off heat.
- Add fried gavvalu in to the sugar syrup & leave it for 5 min.
- Then take it out & cool it in room temperature.
- Once sugar syrup fully absorbed & totally dried store it in an airtight container & use within 10 days

Add maida
Add salt
Add ghee
Mix well
Add milk, knead it make soft dough
Add water, if required
Knead the dough for 5 min
Dough ready, cover it, leave it for 15 min
After 15 min, Knead it again
Divide the dough into equal size balls

How to shape gavvalu
Take one ball
Press gently
Now its ready

Heat oil, drop it
Deep fry on low to medium flame
Deep fry till crisp & golden brown
Flip over fry both sides
Now its raedy, remove it from oil
Drain on absorbent paper
For sugar syrup:Add sugar & water
Boil till one string consistency
Perfect consistency, Add cardamom powder, cut off heat
add 1 tbsp ghee
Add fried gavvalu[kulkul]
In a bowl add wheat flour, rava, ajwain, red chilli powder, turmeric powder & hot oil
Soak it for 5 min
Now its ready, remove it from sugar syrup
Let it cool in room temperature
perfect texture
Crispy & delicious gavvalu ready
Kulkul, kidiyo, kalakala, or kal kal
Store in an sirtight container, use within 10 days
