How to make Vazhakkai poriyal / Raw banana stir fry video
Ingredients
- Raw Banana[vazhakkai, Kacha kela] -1 [Peel off the skin & cut into cubes]
- Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
- Red chilli powder – 1 tsp
- Mustard seeds – 1 tbsp
- Curry leaves – 1 spring
- Sambar onion - 5 to 6
- Urad dal- 1/2 tbsp
- Coconut - 1/4 cup
- Garlic - 3 cloves[mash]
- Ginger - 1 tbsp
- Salt to taste
- Oil – 2 tbsp
- Water as needed
Method
- Wash raw banana 2 to 3 times
- Then boil with turmeric powder
- Drain water, let it cool , peel off the skin then chop
- Heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds & let it splutter then add urad dal.
- Add ginger, garlic, onion & curry leaves
- Add boiled raw banana, salt, red chilli & turmeric powder saute for 3 min.
- Add ground coconut mix well then cut off heat.
- Serve hot with rice.
Note
- Don’t pressure cook Raw Banana.

Slice raw banana
Add water
Add 1 tbsp oil, boil till soft
Drain water, peel off the skin
Slice
Cut into cubes
Heat pan, add 1.5 tbsp oil, mustard, urad dal, asafoetida, curry leaves, ginger, garlic, onion, turmeric, red chilli powder, saute till soft
Add boiled raw banana, saute for 5 min
Now its ready, cut off heat
