Munaga mamidikaya pappu | Mango drumstick dal-Andhra special-How to make-Step by step photos

Ingredients
- Green mango [Raw mango] – 1 [sour, cut into 1 inch cubes, don’t remove skin]
- Drumstick – 1 [cut into 1 inch pieces]
- Toor dal – ½ cup
- Tamarind extract – 1 tbsp [thin]
- Onion – 1 [sliced]
- Green chilli – 3
- Dry red chilli - 4
- Red chilli powder – 1 tsp
- Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
- Curry leaves – 1 spring
- Coriander leaves – 1 spring [chopped]
- Mustard seeds – 1 tbsp
- Urad dal – 1 tbsp
- Bengal gram – ¼ tsp
- Jaggery – ½ tbsp [grated]
- Oil – 2 tbsp
- Salt to taste
- Water as needed
Preparation Method
- Pressure cook toor dal with turmeric powder for 3 whistles.
- Heat oil in a pan add onion, sauté till soft.
- Then add green chilli, drumstick, mango, turmeric & red chilli powder, salt sauté well.
- Add water & cook till soft. Then add cooked toor dal, tamarind extract mix well & let it boil.
- When boiling add jaggery & coriander leaves then cut off heat.
- For seasoning:- Heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds & let it splutter. Then add Bengal gram, urad dal, curry leaves & dry red chilli saute gently then cut off heat.
- Add these seasoned ingredients to the mango drumstick mixture. Then serve hot with rice.
Note
- Dont add too much tamarind extract.
How to make Munaga mamidikaya pappu-Step by step photos
Heat oil in a pan add onion, green chilli, drumstick, mango, turmeric & red chilli powder, salt, sauté for 2 min
Add water cook till soft.
Add boiled toor dal mix well
Add thin tamarind extract & let it boil
Add jaggery
Add coriander leaves
For seasoning:- Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds, bengal gram, urad dal, curry leaves & dry red chilli fry for a min. Then add these seasoned ingredients to the gravy mix well.
Munaga mamidikaya pappu is ready, serve hot with rice
