Ingredients

  • Green mango [Raw mango] – 1 [sour, cut into 1 inch cubes, don’t remove skin]
  • Drumstick – 1 [cut into 1 inch pieces]
  • Toor dal – ½ cup
  • Tamarind extract – 1 tbsp [thin]
  • Onion – 1 [sliced]
  • Green chilli – 3
  • Dry red chilli - 4
  • Red chilli powder – 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
  • Curry leaves – 1 spring
  • Coriander leaves – 1 spring [chopped]
  • Mustard seeds – 1 tbsp
  • Urad dal – 1 tbsp
  • Bengal gram – ¼ tsp
  • Jaggery – ½ tbsp [grated]
  • Oil – 2 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as needed

Preparation Method

  • Pressure cook toor dal with turmeric powder for 3 whistles.
  • Heat oil in a pan add onion, sauté till soft.
  • Then add green chilli, drumstick, mango, turmeric & red chilli powder, salt sauté well.
  • Add water & cook till soft. Then add cooked toor dal, tamarind extract mix well & let it boil.
  • When boiling add jaggery & coriander leaves then cut off heat.
  • For seasoning:- Heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds & let it splutter. Then add Bengal gram, urad dal, curry leaves & dry red chilli saute gently then cut off heat.
  • Add these seasoned ingredients to the mango drumstick mixture. Then serve hot with rice.

Note

  • Dont add too much tamarind extract.
