Cabbage thoran-Kerala style stir fry-How to make-Step by step photos

Ingredients
- Cabbage – 1 cup [cut into long thin strips or grate]
- Coconut – ½ cup [grated]
- Dry red chilli -1
- Green chilli - 1
- Onion – 1 [chopped]
- Curry leaves – 1 spring
- Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
- Urad dal – 1 tbsp
- Mustard seeds – 1 tbsp
- Asafetida a pinch
- Salt to taste
- Coconut oil – 1 ½ tbsp
- Water as needed
Preparation
- Heat coconut oil in a pan, add mustard seeds & let it splutter. Then add urad dal sauté gently.
- Add green chilli, dry red chilli, curry leaves & asafetida sauté.
- Add onion sauté till soft. Then add cabbage sauté for 1 min.
- Add salt, turmeric powder mix well & sauté for 1 min. Then add water, cover it & cook till soft.
- Finally add grated coconut mix well & cut off heat, serve hot with rice.
Tip
- Use coconut oil for better flavor.

Cut cabbge into thin stripes
Heat coconut oil in a pan, add mustard, urad dal, dry red chilli, green chilli and curry leaves fry
Add onion saute till soft
Add cabbage, turmeric powder, asafetida, & salt saute for a min.
Add half cup of water mix well, cover lid & cook till soft
Once cooked, add grated coconut saute for a min
Now cabbage thoran is ready, cut off heat
Serve hot with rice
