Aval pongal | Poha ven pongal recipe-How to make-Step by step photos & Video

Ingredients
- Aval [Rice flakes, Poha]– 1 cup
- Moong dal- ¼ cup
- Cashew nuts - 8
- Cumin seeds – 1 tbsp
- Peppercorn – 1 tbsp
- Crushed peppercorn - 1/2 tbsp
- Ginger – 1 inch [chopped, mashed]
- Green chilli – 1 [finely chopped]
- Curry leaves – 1 spring
- Ghee – 3 tbsp
- Salt to taste
- Water – 3 cups
Method
- Wash aval.
- Dry roast moong dal.
- Heat pan, add 3 cups of water and 1 tbsp ghee. Then add moong dal cook till soft.
- Then add dry roasted poha,cover lid and cook for 3 min.
- For seasoning:- Heat ghee in a pan, add cumin seeds, pepper corns, green chilli, ginger, cashew nuts and curry leaves sauté gently then cut off heat.
- Add seasoned ingredients to the cooked poha moong dal mixture then add salt mix well.
- Finally add ghee & crushed peppercorns mix well. Serve hot with coconut chutney or sambar.

Wash aval 2 times
Cook moong dal till soft
Add aval mix well, cover lid, cook for 2min then cut off heat
Heat ghee in a pan add cumin, peppercorns, ginger, curry leaves, cashews saute
Add seasoned ingredients
pohe ven pongal is ready, serve hot with coconut chutney
