Vazhakkai bonda | Raw banana balls-How to make-Step by step photos & video

Ingredients
- Raw banana[vazhakkai] – 1
- Rice flour – 3 tbsp
- Onion – 1 [finely chopped]
- Curry leaves – 2 [chopped]
- Coriander leaves – 2 springs [chopped]
- Salt to taste
- Oil for deep frying [Sunflower or groundnut oil]
Ingredients for Roasting and Grinding
- Cumin seeds– 1 tbsp
- Fennel seeds– 1 tbsp
- Garlic – 3 cloves
- Ginger – 1 tbsp
- Green chilli – 1
- Dry red chilli - 1
- Coconut -3 tbsp
- Cinnamon -Half stick
- Put all ingredients in a mixie jar coarsely grind without water
Preparation Method
- Wash and boil raw banana till soft
- Peel off the skin the mash well, let it cool for 10 min to avoid stickiness
- In a bowl add mashed raw banana, rice flour, ground mixture, salt, onion, coriander & curry leaves mix well, make soft dough
- Then divide the dough into equal size balls
- Heat enough oil in a pan then put raw banan vada & deep fry till golden brown & crisp on medium hot oil.
- Once its ready take it out & drain on absorbent paper.
- Serve hot with tomato sauce, chilli sauce or green chutney

Take 1 raw banana
Wash and slice
In a pan, add water, 1 tbsp oil and raw banana
Cook till soft
Now its ready, drain water
Let it cool for 2 min
Peel off the skin
Mash well without lumps
Add rice flour
Add salt
In a mixie jar, add cumin, fennel, cinnamon, ginger, green chilli, dry red chilli
Add garlic, coconut
Coarsely grind
Add onion, curry leaves, coriander leaves, ground mixture, mix well, make soft dough
Raw banana vada dough ready
Make balls
Drop it in hot oil
Deep fry till crisp
