Thoran recipe kerala onam sadhya festival special-How to make-Step by step photos

Ingredients
- Carrot – 1 cup [finely chopped]
- Beans – ½ cup [finely chopped]
- Coconut – ½ cup [grated]
- Dry red chilli -1
- Green chilli - 2
- Onion – 1 [chopped]
- Curry leaves – 1 spring
- Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
- Bengal gram – ½ tbsp
- Urad dal – 1 tbsp
- Mustard seeds – 1 tbsp
- Asafetida a pinch
- Salt to taste
- Coconut oil – 1 ½ tbsp
- Water as needed
Preparation
- Heat coconut oil in a pan add mustard seeds & let it splutter. Then add Bengal gram, urad dal saute gently.
- Add green chilli, dry red chilli, curry leaves & asafetida sauté.
- Add onion sauté till soft. Then add beans sauté for 1 min.
- Then add carrot, salt, turmeric powder mix well & sauté for 1 min. Add water, cover it & cook till soft.
- Finally add grated coconut mix well & cut off heat, serve hot with rice.
Tip
- Use coconut oil for better flavor.
How to make Thoran recipe- Stepwise pictures
Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds & let it splutter, then add bengal gram, urad dal, curry leaves, dry red chilli & green chilli saute
Add onion saute till soft or light brown
Add asafetida
Add finely chopped beans saute for one min
Add finely chopped carrot, turmeric powder & salt saute
Add water, cover it and cook till soft
Finally add grated coconut mix well
Thoran is ready, Now cut off heat
Serve hot with rice
