Ulundu adai | Black gram adai | Kovil adai | Karuppu ulundhu adai-Stepwise Photos & Video

Ingredients
- Black urad dal [Karuppu ulundhu] – 1 cup
- Ginger – 1 inch cube
- Curry leaves – 2 springs [chopped]
- Coriander leaves – 2 springs [chopped]
- Green chilli – 1 [chopped]
- Salt to taste
- Oil – 2 tbsp
Preparation
- Wash and soak black urad dal for 8 hours. Then coarsely grind with ginger. (Don’t add water)
- In a bowl add urad dal mixture, then add curry leaves, coriander leaves, green chilli and salt mix well.
- Put batter on tawa, dip fingers in water, immediately spread the batter gently and bring to round shape then pour 2 tbsp of oil around the adai.
- Cook both the sides and serve hot with chutney
Tip
- You can use ulundu adai as side dish for thayir sadam.

Soak urad dal in water for 8 hours
Soaked black urad dal & ginger
Coarsely ground Urad dal & salt
Add chopped green chilli, curry leaves, coriander leaves
Shape adai in dosa tawa & pour 2 tbsp of oil around the adai
Cook both sides
Kovil adai-ready to serve
