Cornmeal pongal | Corn rava pongal-How to make-Stepwise pictures

Ingredients
- Cornmeal [Corn rava] – 1 cup
- Moong dal – ¼ cup
- Ghee [melted butter] – 2 tbsp
- Peppercorns – ½ tbsp [Crushed]
- Salt to taste
- Water – 3 cups
For Seasoning [Ingredients]
- Cumin seeds – 1 tbsp
- Pepper corns - 7
- Ginger – 1 tbsp [finely chopped]
- Curry leaves – 1 spring
- Cashew nuts - 10
- Ghee – 2 tbsp
Method
- Dry roast cornmeal & green moong dal then wash.
- In a pressure cooker, add dry roasted cornmeal, moong dal & water. Add ghee, cover it & cook 3 to 4 whistles.
- Heat pan then add ghee & seasoning with cumin seeds, peppercorns, cashew nut, ginger, & curry leaves.
- Add these seasoned ingredients, & salt to cornmeal mixture mix well.
- Sprinkle ghee [melted butter] & serve hot with coconut chutney or sambar.
Tip
-
For extra spicy flavor add green chilli when seasoning.
How to make Cornmeal pongal-Stepwise procedure with pictures[Easy, simple]
Dry roasted cornmeal & green moong dal
Add dry roasted moong dal, cornmeal, water & ghee in a pressure cooker, cover, cook for 3 whistles.
After 3 whistles-perfectly textured cornmeal mixture
Add salt mix well
For Seasoning:- Heat ghee in a pan add cumin, peppercorns, cashew, ginger & curry leaves
Add seasoned ingredients mix well
Cornmeal pongal is ready-sprinkle ghee & serve hot with chutney
