Red rice sweet pongal | Sigappu arisi sakkarai pongal-How to make with step by step photos

Ingredients
- Broken Red Rice– 1 cup
- Yellow moong dal – ¼ cup
- Jaggery – ½ cup [grated]
- Cashew nuts – 7
- Raisins - 6
- Cardamom powder- ½ tbsp
- Ghee – 4 tbsp
- Water as needed
Method
- Wash red rice & moong dal. Then drain water & put it in a pressure cooker with 2 ½ cups of water and ghee, cook for 4 whistles.
- Heat pan & melt jaggery with 4 tbsp of water.
- Heat pan with ghee then roast cashews & raisins.
- Add melted jaggery, ghee and cardamom powder to the cooked rice mixture & mix well.
- Finally add cashews & raisins then serve hot.
How to make Red rice sweet pongal - Stepwise pictures
Pressure cook broken red rice, & moong dal with 1 tbsp of ghee for 4 whistles
Heat ghee in a pan put raisins & cashews roast
Roasted raisins cashews, cut off heat
Melt jaggery
Add melted jaggery, raisins & cashews
Add cardamom powder
Finally add ghee
Sigappu arisi sakkarai pongal is ready
