Cuisine Style: Tamil Nadu, South India | Cooking Time: 10-15 minutes | To Serve: 3 | Type : Breakfast | Take with : Coconut Chutney, sambar

Ingredients

  • Rice – 4 cups
  • Urad dal – 1 cup
  • Fenugreek – 1 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as needed

Preparation

  • Wash and Soak rice, urad dal with fenugreek separately for 6 hours.
  • Drain water then grind well. Add salt and leave the batter for fermentation [approximately. 8 hours].
  • Grease idly plates with gingelly oil. Pour idly batter. Then steam it for 10 min.
  • Serve hot with coconut chutney and Sambar.
