Kongunadu style pasi payaru paruppu sadam | Green gram rice-How to make-step by step photos

Ingredients
- Toor dal– 1/2 cup
- Rice – 1 cup
- Mustard seeds – 1 tbsp
- Garlic – 3 cloves
- Curry leaves - 1 spring
- Green chilli -1
- Tomato - 1
- Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
- Red chilli powder - 1/4 tsp
- Asafoetida - 1/4 tsp
- Salt to taste
- Ghee – 2 tbsp
- Oil – 1 tbsp
Method
- Wash Toor dal and rice, soak it for 30 min
- Heat pressure cooker , add ghee & oil
- Add Mustard seeds, let it splutter
- Add Asafoetida, garlic, green chilli, curry leaves, onion saute.
- Add tomato, turmeric & red chilli powder saute till soft.
- Then add toor dal, rice, water & salt mix well
- Cover lid and cook for 3 to 4 whistles.
- Serve hot with ghee

Peel off garlic & shallots
Heat oil, add mustard seeds, chana dal, urad dal, shallots & green chilli
Add turmeric, red chilli powder, & asafoetida saute
Add roasted green gram
Add soaked rice & salt mix well
Let it boil
Cover lid and cook for 4 whistles
Remove steam then gently mix
Pasi payaru paruppu sadam ready, serve hot with ghee or coconut oil
