Ingredients

  • Toor dal– 1/2 cup
  • Rice – 1 cup
  • Mustard seeds – 1 tbsp
  • Garlic – 3 cloves
  • Curry leaves - 1 spring
  • Green chilli -1
  • Tomato - 1
  • Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Red chilli powder - 1/4 tsp
  • Asafoetida - 1/4 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Ghee – 2 tbsp
  • Oil – 1 tbsp

Method

  • Wash Toor dal and rice, soak it for 30 min
  • Heat pressure cooker , add ghee & oil
  • Add Mustard seeds, let it splutter
  • Add Asafoetida, garlic, green chilli, curry leaves, onion saute.
  • Add tomato, turmeric & red chilli powder saute till soft.
  • Then add toor dal, rice, water & salt mix well
  • Cover lid and cook for 3 to 4 whistles.
  • Serve hot with ghee
