Ingredients

  • Green gram [Green moong dal, pachai payaru, pasipayaru, matki dal] – 1 cup
  • Ginger – 1 tbsp [chopped]
  • Green chilli - 3
  • Cumin seeds – 1 tbsp
  • Coriander leaves – 3 springs
  • Curry leaves – 2 springs
  • Oil – 2 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Water as needed

Preparation Method

  • Wash & soak green gram over night. Then drain water.
  • Put soaked green gram, green chilli, ginger, cumin seeds, coriander & curry leaves in a grinder then coarsely grind with enough water.
  • In a bowl add coarsely ground batter mixture, salt mix well & leave it for 3 hours.
  • Heat paniyaram tawa (Iron casting tastes better than other material) & grease with oil then pour batter.
  • Cover lid and cook for 2 min.
  • Flip over and pour 1 tbsp of oil around the paniyaram then again cook till crisp & golden brown.
  • Cut off heat. Then serve hot with coconut chutney
