Purple cabbage pakoda

Ingredients

  • Red cabbage[Purple cabbage] – 1 cup [cut into long stripes]
  • Gram flour [Besan flour, kadalai maavu]- 4 tbsp
  • Rice flour - 2 tbsp
  • Omam[carom seeds, ajwain] – ½ tbdp
  • Red chilli powder - ½ tbsp
  • Turmeric Powder - 1 tsp
  • Curry leaves – ½ spring
  • Asafetida – ½ tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for deep frying

Method

  • In a bowl add Purple cabbage, Rice flour, Bengal gram flour, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, carom seeds, asafetida, & salt mix well. [don’t add water].
  • Heat oil in a pan & sprinkle purple cabbage mixture & deep fry on medium flame till they turn golden brown & crisp. Or second fry.
  • Drain on absorbent paper & serve hot with tea, coffee.
