Munthiri kothu | Chittu urundai | Green gram laddu-How to make-Video & Step by step photos

Ingredients
- Green gram - 1cup
- Jaggery- 1 cup
- Water – ¼ cup
- Coconut – 3 tbsp [grated]
- Black sesame seeds– 2 tbsp
- Cardamom powder – 1 tbsp
- Ghee – 2 tbsp
- Oil for deep frying
For batter[outer layer]
- Rice flour – 1/2 cup
- Wheat flour - 2 tbsp
- Water as needed
- Salt a pinch
Preparation
- Dry roast green gram then let it cool then put it in a mixer jar then finely grind.
- Dry roast black sesame seeds till it splutter then let it cool.
- Dry roast coconut then let it cool.
- Heat water in a pan add jaggery & water let it melt then drain impurities.
- Heat pan add melted jaggery let it cook till thick syrup consistency.
- In a bowl grind green gram powder, sesame, coconut, cardamom powder mix well
- Add melted jaggery, ghee, mix well then make balls.
- In a bowl add rice flour, wheat flour, salt & water mix well then make thin or thick batter without lumps
- Dip green gram balls into the rice flour batter then drop it in hot oil & deep frying till crisp & light brown.
- Once its ready remove from oil, let it cool, store in an airtight container use within 5 days

Dry roast green gram till light brown

Heat pan, add jaggery & water, let it melt
Now its ready
Drain to remove impurities
Boil till thick syrup consistency
Jaggery syrup is ready, cut off heat
In a mixer jar add roasted green gram, grind to fine powder
Ground green gram is ready
Add roasted black sesame seeds, grind
In a bowl add ground green gram powder, roasted coconut
Add green cardamom powder
Add jaggery, mix well
Add ghee
Make balls
Green gram balls ready
In a pan, add rice flour, wheat flour & salt mix well
Add water, make light batter
Add balls
Dip into the batter
Heat enough oil, put dipped balls, deep fry till light brown
Now its ready, remove it from oil, drain on absorbent paper
Munthiri kothu is ready, let it cool, store in an airtight container, use within 1 week
