Ingredients

  • Rice flour – 1 cup
  • Coconut – ½ cup [grated]
  • Water – 1 cup
  • Salt to taste

For seasoning

  • Mustard seeds – 1 tbsp
  • Cumin seeds – 1 tbsp
  • Bengal gram – 1 tbsp
  • Urad dal – 1 tbsp
  • Curry leaves – 1 spring
  • Coriander leaves - 2 springs[finely chopped]
  • Red chilli powder – ½ tsp
  • Turmeric powder – ¼ tsp
  • Green chilli – 1 [finely chopped]
  • Asafetida a pinch
  • Oil – 2 tbsp

Method

  • Take rice flour in a thick big pan; add water & salt mix well.
  • Heat pan then pour rice flour mixture & stir consistency in medium heat (to avoid lumps) till you get chapatti dough consistency.
  • In a bowl add rice flour dough & coconut mix well. Then divide the dough into equal size[gooseberry size] balls.
  • Place balls in steamer or idli cooker steam for 5 min.
  • Heat oil in a pan then add mustard seeds & let it splutter. Add Bengal gram, urad dal & cumin seeds.
  • Add green red chilli, curry leaves & asafetida mix well. Then add turmeric & red chilli powder.
  • Add steamed balls mix well & cut off heat. Sprinkle coriander leaves, serve hot.
