Vendakkai mandi | Vendaikai Mandi (Green okra tamarind Gravy)

Ingredients
- Green okra[vendakkai, ladies finer]- 10
- Garlic flakes -5
- Onion -1
- Green Chillies -3 to 4
- Curry leaves- 1 spring
- Mustard seeds -1/2 tsp
- Rice flour- 1 tbsp
- Tamarind water -1/2 cup
- Water -1/2 cup
- Salt to taste
- Oil - 3 tbsp
Preparation
- Soak tamarind in water for 10 min, then squeeze & extract water.
- In a bowl add rice flour and 1/2 cup of water mix well[buttermilk consistency]
- Wash the okras and cut it into small pieces.
- Chop the onions and garlic.
- Slit green Chillies.
- Heat 2 tbsp oil in a pan saute okra then keep it aside.
- Heat 1 tbsp oil, add mustard seeds let it splutter then add curry leaves.
- Add onion, garlic and green chilies.
- Add fried okras and tamarind extract mix well & let it boil.
- Add rice flour water & salt boil till thick & raw smell out.
- Serve with rice.
Note
- Instead of Okra potato can be used.
Tip
- Pappadam is the best side dish.
