Kavuni arisi murukku | Black rice chakli-How to make-step by step photos & video

Ingredients
- Black Rice [Kavuni arisi]– 1 cup
- Gram flour– 1/4 cup
- Red chilli powder - 1 tbsp
- Ghee - 2 tbsp
- Asafetida [Hing, perungayam] – ¼ tsp
- White sesame seeds – 1 tbsp
- Oil for deep frying
- Salt to taste
- Water as needed
Preparation Method
- Wash and soak black rice for 2 hours then drain water.
- Then spread black rice on the cotton cloth let it dry.
- Put dried black rice in a mixie jar grind to fine powder or you can sieve with out lumps.
- In a bowl add black rice powder, gram flour, asafoetida, sesame seeds, red chilli powder, salt and ghee mix well.
- Add water mix well, knead it make soft dough.
- Add 1 tbsp of oil knead it again [It should be soft & non sticky].
- Heat enough oil in a pan, take star murukku mould plate then place it in a muruku kuzhal.
- Fill the prepared dough in a muruku kuzhal [one handful] & just press out or squeeze over the ladle & deep fry till crisp on medium hot oil.
- Flip over & fry another side.
- Once it ready or the oil sound disappears then take it out & drain on absorbent paper.
- Leave it for room temperature [Apr. 2 min]. Then store in an airtight container use with in 1 week.

Spread over the cloth, let it dry
1 hour later
In a mixie jar, add black rice, grind to fine powder

Sieve black flour
Remove lumps

Add red chilli powder, hing, ghee, salt mix well
Add sesame seeds, mix well
Add water, mix well, make soft dough
Murukku dough is ready
Place handful dough in a murukku kuzhal
Squeeze over the cloth
Deep fry in medium hot oil till crisp
Flip over fry both sides
Crispy black rice murukku ready, remove it from oil
